Ruby Wrapper for FamilySearch APIs

Jimmy Zimmerman is hosting a github branch of a Ruby wrapper for the FamilySearch APIs. It's a great project, one worth entertaining and collaborating on. Jimmy is also presenting at the upcoming RootsTech conference in Salt Lake City, UT. His presentations sound awesome:
  • "No SQL" - Exploring the Super Powers of Graph and Document DBs (Thursday, 10 February 2010 @ 4:15pm)
  • A Zombie Social Graph with XFN (XHTML Friends Network) and FOAF (Friend of a Friend) (Saturday, 12 February 2010 @ 1:45pm)
I'm hoping I can make it down to Salt Lake City from Seattle for the conference.

Web of Kin Launch

Golden shower Tree. This blog is the preliminary iteration of an idea I have been kicking around for a while of providing an online forum for semantic genealogy and other innovative concepts for the future of genealogy. This blog is an extension of wonderful conversations happening elsewhere on the Facebook group Family History Technologies, begun by the admirable Jesse Stay.

Recent announcements, including brightsolid's revelation of subcription service findmypast.com.au, FamilySearch's upcoming RootsTech conference, and others have pushed me off the precipice to venture into the fray of genealogical evolutions and revolutions. I hope this forum with develop with the interests of its readers and writers. Please contact me if you would like to write for Web of Kin at todd.d.robbins at the Google mail.

Let's get busy!
